Turkey time!
American people are not only celebrating that Bush is gone forever and Obama is here. This week they are going to celebrate Thanksgiving day.
Our class today is based on knowing about this celebration.
Go to the following link and start. Don't worry, it is difficult the first time you listen to it, but you can listen as many times as you need.

Now watch and answer. In the following list, you have some words which can help you understand the sketch better:

Who is the only one enjoying his dessert?
Can you name any of the ingredients she put in her cake?
I know we don't celebrate Thanksgiving but let's wish them a nice day.

Thanksgiving IS OBSERVED on the last Thursday in November.
It is a day to give thanks. Millions of families and friends gather for a traditional meal. It usually includes turkey, sweet potatoes, squash, corn, cranberries and pumpkin pie. Many of the same foods (...) WERE EATEN on the first Thanksgiving centuries ago.
Settlers from England (the Pilgrim Fathers) ARE BELIEVED to have held the first Thanksgiving meal in 1621. They had arrived (...) a year earlier. More than half their number died from disease or lack of food.
The survivors held a day of thanksgiving. They thanked God for protecting them. They also thanked the Native Americans (...) who helped save the Pilgrims by showing them how to fish and plant crops. The Pilgrims celebrated Thanksgiving for about three days. About 90 Indians joined the celebration. (...) A peace and friendship agreement WAS SIGNED by the two groups. (...)
This friendship, though, was not for long. More English settlers came to America. (...) Many of them forgot about the help the Indians had provided. Within a few years, the two sides were at war. Many of the Wampanoags WERE KILLED in battle or died from diseases that arrived with the Europeans.
